Wooden Wedges: Screwed to the fascia board before gutter installation. They should be painted to match the fascia color. Gutters are then installed with internal hangers (omni) spaced to match the wedges. This method is more labor-intensive and often requires a carpenter or skilled handyman.

Metal Wedges: Attached to the back of the gutter before installation. These T-wedges are cut to the correct depth to ensure the gutter sits vertically. Proper vertical alignment is crucial for optimal water flow and capacity. Adjust wedge depth as the gutter pitches towards the downspout due to the increasing gap between the gutter and fascia.
Installing gutters with wedges can be technically challenging and time-consuming, potentially increasing the overall cost compared to standard vertical fascia installations. Metal wedges can be painted to match the gutter color.
2. Using Roof Straps
Roof straps bypass the angled fascia altogether. They involve installing hangers in the gutters and attaching the gutters directly to the roof.
This method is suitable when the fascia angle is too extreme for wedges or if crown molding/stepped fascia prevents wedge use. Roof straps are typically attached to the top of the shingle. Straps can be painted to match the shingle color for a less conspicuous appearance. If possible, straps and screws can be installed underneath the shingles.
